Hi, I’m Cailin Kiefhaber.
I am a structured literacy specialist who focuses on helping children with and without learning differences such as dyslexia. I work closely with each child’s family, as well as their school’s learning team, to build individualized plans that support reading success.
Before working 1:1 with struggling readers and writers, I spent over 15 years as an elementary classroom teacher and curriculum coordinator in international and private schools. I loved, and still love, progressive and project-based models of education such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, which emphasizes socio-emotional learning and transdisciplinary skills. However, even in these wonderful settings, I often felt that something was missing when it came to explicit reading instruction.
When I was introduced to the Orton-Gillingham approach, I was struck by how direct, organized, and effective it was. This multisensory, prescriptive, and science-based method transformed my ability to reach children who were struggling in ways I hadn’t been able to identify as clearly before. Today, I’m able to show families exactly which reading skills their child needs, collaborate with educators, and provide individualized instruction that helps students learn to read and write with confidence.
